THE TASK
The task for Imago Design was to create a refrigerator that integrates harmoniously into modern kitchens and impresses with its clear lines, high-quality materials and intuitive functionality. BORA COOL should not only cool, but also enrich the room as an aesthetic element.
The Solution
A deliberately understated refrigerator that impresses with its clear geometry, flush integration and minimalist choice of materials and colours. The design follows the idea of visual calm and creates an elegant object that blends into modern living spaces, yet still has a strong design presence.
DESK Research
Imago Design carried out comprehensive desk research at the start of the project to analyse existing market offerings, trends in kitchen design and user needs in the area of refrigeration appliances. This research formed the basis for a deep understanding of the context of use and helped to derive relevant design impulses for the development of the BORA COOL.
Detailed solutions and accessories
Imago Design has developed a new filling concept that makes everyday refrigerator life more intuitive, structured and ergonomic. The focus is on the idea of making frequently used food items more accessible and simplifying the loading and unloading processes. Sliding modules, flexible shelves and clearly defined zones create a clear interior structure that can be customised. Detailed solutions such as flush-mounted integrated handles, soft-close pull-outs and intuitive lighting emphasise the high design standards and ensure a harmonious overall look – both inside and out.
Mechanical engineering
Mechanical engineering focussed on the development of a precisely coordinated design that guarantees high stability, durability and quiet operation. Complex requirements such as the integration of concealed hinges, damped pull-outs and modular interior elements were realised without compromising on the design. Particular challenges lay in the precise coordination of tolerances, thermal insulation and efficient ventilation within the compact construction volume. The result is a technically sophisticated product that seamlessly combines functionality and design.
