THE TASK
DeePull provided the idea for the compact sepsis analyzer. LRE developed the mechanics, Imago Design created the housing, UX and interface - with a focus on intuitive operation and clear functionality.
The Solution
Imago Design created the 100 × 75 cm medical device, including the housing, UX and interface design. A particular focus: ergonomic operation. For example, the height of the display can be adjusted to suit different users - for efficient work with multiple samples and analyses.
UX Research
In the early project phase, we conducted comprehensive desk research to better understand the processes, requirements and challenges in everyday laboratory work. Building on this, we tested functional prototypes of the device together with laboratory staff in Copenhagen and Barcelona. The direct feedback from day-to-day work was incorporated into the further development of usability, interface and ergonomics.

Interface - UX Design
For this project, we worked closely with the client to develop a holistic interface design – from the initial idea to the final realisation. Together with the client, we first developed a viable design and interaction concept that took into account functional requirements as well as aesthetic and brand-specific aspects. Building on this, we designed the entire interface and defined all the associated elements – from navigation and typography to microinteractions and responsive components. The iterative exchange was a central part of our process and ensured that the result was not only visually convincing, but also optimally tailored to the needs of the users.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
The sepsis analyser combines highly complex technical processes in a very small space. In collaboration with LRE, a precise, maintenance-friendly mechanism was developed that enables the reliable execution of numerous analysis steps – from sample collection to evaluation. Particular attention was paid to the integration of the mechanics into the compact housing and to clearly structured, user-friendly accessibility for maintenance and operation. Movable elements such as the height-adjustable display were mechanically designed to be robust, durable and ergonomic to operate.
